I'm happy to walk you through the process and make sure you feel confident every step of the way.Alternatively, for International Clients, the GFTB Rate Guide might also be beneficial if your market is outside of the US.Feel free to reach out for any further help or to get your project started!

FAQ
Q: WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS LIKE?A: It’s a simple process —1. You send me your script.
2. Let me know how and for how long the audio will be used. See Usage and Duration below.
3. I send you a quote. Retakes and revisions are covered here.
4. We agree to move forward.
5. We discuss the creative direction, tone, and style of the read you’re looking for.
6. I record, edit, and send you the audio. Or you schedule a live-directed recording session.
7. You sign off the audio or request any retakes.
8. I send you the invoice.
9. You pay the invoice.
10. We enjoy the benefits of our work.
Q: CAN YOU DO LIVE, DIRECTED SESSIONS?A: Absolutely. You can book a live session here, which will auto-generate a Zoom link. On the day of the session, you’ll join by Zoom, give me live directions, and hear the audio right off the booth mic. Then I can either send you the raw session or the final, edited file.
Q: CAN YOU DO LIVE SESSIONS VIA SOURCE-CONNECT?A: Not yet, but I’m planning to soon. In the meantime, we can use any other of the options mentioned here.
Q: IS THERE AN EXTRA FEE FOR LIVE SESSIONS?A: No. A live session is included in your quote if you like to work live. The session is paid for upfront when you book, and that fee is subtracted from your final bill.
Q: WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?A: Click here for info on rates.
Q: DO YOU WORK ON A FLAT FEE OR BULK RATE ARRANGEMENT?A: Yes, if and when it makes sense for you. If you have a regular volume of work that could benefit from a consistent voice, you may save significant time and money with Flat Fee Voiceover. These arrangements are also custom quoted based on the factors below and the anticipated volume and inflow of work.
Q: HOW ARE RATES QUOTED?A: There are several factors considered for each quote:・ Genre
What type of project is it? For example, broadcast commercials, corporate narration, explainer video, telephony (IVR or message on hold), eLearning, medical narration, etc.・ Length
How long is the finished project? Depending on the genre, this can be measured in time, word count, or page count.・ Usage
Where and how will the product be used? For broadcast (TV and/or radio, which markets, how many markets, size of markets), web (on a website, paid web advertising, social media, YouTube, etc), internal corporate use, etc. For a good explanation of usage for those who hire voiceover, click here. If I don’t know the usage, I can’t accurately quote the project.・ Duration
How long will the voiceover be used? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year?・ Budget
Hopefully, you've done your homework and have a reasonable, fair-market-value budget in mind. If not, I can provide objective, industry-standard information to educate you on reasonable rates.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?A: My current average workload allows me to turn around typical projects in one business day or less. If you need an extra-tight turnaround, by all means, let’s chat! Larger projects and fully produced pieces (with music, sound effects, etc.) take longer and depend on the scope.
Q: HOW ARE THE FINAL FILES DELIVERED?A: Short answer: Any way you like.I can output files in any professional format, and typically deliver them via email or Google Drive. Let me know if you have another preferred delivery method (Dropbox, etc.).
Q: WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON RETAKES AND REVISIONS?A: Non-script-correct mistakes on my part are always fixed for free. For the complete policy on retakes and revisions, click here.
Q: DO YOU DO FULL AUDIO PRODUCTION?A: I have a full-service pro studio, and can deliver fully produced audio for video, broadcast commercials, presentations, and more. If you're asking about a fully produced piece (music, sound effects, etc), not just the final voiceover tracks, just let me know.
Flat Fee VoiceOver
WHY FLAT FEE VOICEOVER?For decades, most voiceover work has been done on a project basis and still is. You write a script and specifications and solicit quotes based on genre, length, usage, duration (how long it will be used), and budget.Flat Fee Voiceover is another way of approaching the work. Like a subscription service for voiceover. It’s a great fit if:・ You’ve got volume.
If you have a fair volume of jobs, they can be outlined and planned together rather than having to go out for quote after quote.・ The work is fairly regular.
You wouldn’t want to have to call every week and contract with your lawn mowing service. The same goes for regular voiceover work.・ You have a mix of small and larger projects.
Projects like promo work, whiteboard video voiceovers, and one-off corporate video voiceovers are much more expensive if you must pay for them individually. Administrative time accounts for a disproportionate share of the cost of small projects. If your small projects are frequent enough, you can make your budget go further by bundling them together with Flat Fee Voiceover.・ Addressing the unpredictable.
Even with a plan, things change. New opportunities come up. Someone woke up with a great idea. It’s hard to take action quickly when you have to find help, price a project, get a signature, and get going. Flat Fee Voiceover allows you to be nimble enough to capitalize on the unexpected.・ Access to advice.
With a Flat Fee Voiceover relationship, you have a partner and a consultant. It’s not just about recording the scripts and delivering the files but helping you think past today to make the most of your month and year.
HOW IT WORKSIn general, this service is for pretty straightforward work. I’ll work on longer pieces if you like, provided you have a flexible schedule and reasonable lead times. You'll send me scripts, as many as you want, with written creative direction, pronunciation guides, and deadlines. I'll record one script at a time, in the order they come in unless you tell me otherwise.I'll record it in my studio. Typically, we'll fall into a daily or weekly rhythm pretty quickly. From there, the process will only get smoother over time.Remotely directed sessions are available.
SCOPE OF WORKThis is for projects that include:・ Web, corporate, and explainer videos・ Presentations and internal corporate media・ Promo and Imaging・ E-learning and corporate training・ Telephony: IVR and Message On Hold・ Excludes: Paid placement pieces for broadcast and/or web usage (e.g. paid pre-roll, inline, or post-roll), including PPC and PPV.
EXPECTATIONSTo start working with you, I need scripts. The more detailed the written direction, the better. If you’re not sure what you want, that’s okay, leave it to me.For pieces up to 1 minute, I’ll give you multiple takes when appropriate.Directed sessions are available.Mistakes (when I record something non-script-correct) on my part are always fixed free.I want this to be fun for both of us. This is a fun way to work, and it works best when we're both flexible and have each other's back.
Retakes, Revisions, & AI Policies
Retakes & Revisions
Retakes (my mistakes) are included at no cost.Revisions (changes made to the script after recording):・ Minor Revisions (one or two words): $50
・ Major Revisions (more than two words): $100 minimum
・ Re-Reads => 30% of the original script: Original ratePerformance Retakes (undirected sessions):For undirected sessions, where I am recording the files in my studio at my own direction and sending them to you, if you need me to re-do lines for performance reasons, I’m happy to do one round of Performance Retakes at no cost. Please try to communicate any and all direction and/or change of direction at this time. After the first round of retakes, subsequent rounds are charged as Revisions, above. If retakes are required for pronunciation preferences that are not specified in advance either by a pronunciation guide or otherwise in writing, these will be treated as Revisions and are billable. Examples: “ee-ther” vs. “eye-ther,” “off-ten” vs. “off-en,” “oh” vs. “zero.”When sending a change request, please highlight the lines in the original script or list the full sentence to be re-recorded, the sentence before, and the sentence after so I know what I’m talking about. If applicable, please include the time index of the video so I can better match tone and pace. Please submit all change requests within 30 days of receiving the original recording. After 30 days, any and all change requests will be charged the original rates.
